BACKGROUND:
A manufacturer of high-performance hand-held lighting equipment,
Streamlight is the market leader in the law enforcement and fire/rescue
markets. The company also has a rapidly growing presence in the
auto and industrial vertical market segments and enlisted our
support to continue to create additional awareness of its products
and services in these two sectors, in addition to the fire/rescue
markets.
CHALLENGE:
Use publicity to continue to claim unrivaled ‘ownership’ of the
fire/rescue segments, based on Streamlight’s reputation as the
brand that heroes trust. For the industrial and auto markets,
where professionals increasingly are choosing the Streamlight
brand for durability and long-lasting, high-performance lighting,
increase awareness through publicity efforts.
RESULTS:
Occupational trade magazines form the “core”
of Streamlight’s public relations campaign. We continue to
use them to seek publicity for new product introductions, case
histories, vertical market sponsorships and articles bylined
by Streamlight senior management. We also work with appropriate
media to secure interview commitments with Streamlight executives
at key industry trade shows, as well as to visit Streamlight
headquarters where they can view first hand Streamlight’s extensive
product line, its extensive research and development capabilities
as well as its manufacturing and assembly operations. In 2008,
Streamlight received some 115 placements in industrial, fire
and auto trade magazines, including six full-length, bylined
articles (click
here for example) and more than a
dozen product reviews and other customized coverage in such
publications as Fire Rescue, Motor Magazine,
HVAC Insider, Professional Tool & Equipment
News, Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Magazine and
the Electric Times.
M. NICHOLS also regularly develops copy for an e-newsletter sent
quarterly to Streamlight distributors and sales employees (click
